Book 1 and Short Story Progress

Discovering Magic is in it’s 3rd draft. I just finished it and sent it off to a few people and my editor to review. It’s getting very close and I could not be more excited!

This draft included a major re-write of one character. It was daunting at first to realize I would not be able to use the character I had intended to use. However, I found another character who fit the role better and also opened up an ENTIRE new world of possibilities and educational material for my young readers! It was painful, but turned out so well.

In other news…

My editor and I have our first short story in the works! Here’s what I know about it so far: It will take place in a park area in Minnesota, and it will include more details about the lives of the magical creatures and their world apart from ours.

I can’t wait to get it out to you guys so you can see just what these books are like.

Thanks for stopping by!

Main Character Editing

One of my main characters is getting edited out of the story today.

I am sad to let this character go, but excited about new opportunities with the character that will be the replacement! The replacement character is a mythological creature from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream! This will open up possibilities of using many more mythological creatures from Shakespeare and I am excited to share these stories/plays with my own kiddos.

My good friend, Matthew Karner, is helping me with many great editorial notes about Discovering Magic’s first draft. We are working every night to tighten and smooth out the text, as well as making sure the main story is interesting and exciting.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but there is still so much to be done!
